1) Present: Gabe, Peter, Terry, Edie 2) It was agreed that it is courteous for steering committee members who cannot attend to let us know so we don't wait for them. Please RSVP before 7 pm, the time the meeting starts. 3) Edie presented information on "Opening of the Heart" a powerful photo show of Palestinian Israeli lives and a medium for understanding both sides. The presenters are interested in bringing it to Toronto. Depending on the range of accompanying instructions, this would cost between 3500 and $10,000 (US) . We would need to find a venue and sponsors, and hire a person to do organizing. Edie felt that she could take this on with one other person's help...tentative dates Sept/Oct 2006 (not 2005). We agreed to investigate and pursue this... their website is http://www.openingoftheheart.org/ 4) The Summer Solstice party is coming together: Playspace met today at 5:30, and finalized plans for the event, including erecting the gazebo. Bring friends, bring food, bring spirits! 5) Michael Berezon is trying to organize an umbrella group to speak for the Jewish Left with a single voice on political issues. He would have representatives from Montreal, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Vancouver. We agreed we liked the idea, but as he had failed to email the materials he'd promised us, we need to know more. 6) We will hold Spirit Group meetings in July and August for those who are in town. Peter will contact Dorothy and find out if and when she is interested in hosting the meetings. 7) Playspace will organize a Tikkun presence at the Winter Solstice in Kensington market. We will set up a dramatic presentation at a stall (i.e. we'll be static while the people wend past). There will be a series of mask making meetings leading up to the event 8) There will be a Tikkun general meeting to organize plans for the fall on Sunday Sept 25th at 10 a.m. Breakfast will be part of it, and we will try to find an outdoor venue that offers potential for shelter if it rains. 9) the next Steering committee meeting will be Tuesday, Sept 6th at 7 pm at Peter's
