Community Meetings

Tikkun has one Spirit Group and one Action Group. Tikkun members are encouraged to go to both; interested non-members are welcomed at either, after reading the introduction to the Tikkun Community of Toronto. Please, email us to let us know you're coming.

On this page you can read about Spirit Groups, or Action Groups, The Steering Committee is an open group and welcomes anyone willing to serve.

Spirit Groups
The goals of spirit groups are to provide: nourishment (including food); healing energy for action groups; music, drama, chanting, storytelling; activities for body and emotion; learning, dialog and teaching (on current issues); to create intimacy and relationships with respect; to create a safe place to express fears and unknowns, and for kvetching; to explore inter/intra faith issues around peace; to revel in the fire of authenticity, joy, and wonder; to get through tough times together. How do we do this? Read the guidelines to our meeting structure here.

Upcoming Spirit Group Meetings
We are a group that explores and shares our questions, rather than one that only cares about the answers. The next Spirit Meeting is at Edie's On Tuesday Aug 18th at 7:30. We will plan the fall season.

Action Groups
Action groups are focussed outward, on actions that will heal the world. Tikkun will select actions to work on, as a group, that involve creative artistry, spiritual politics, consciousness raising, and community building, while trying to hold on to a reflective process orientation. In addition we are open to supporting or collaborating in actions of other groups.

Upcoming Action Meetings

The next Action Meeting is Writing Towards Peace, a two hour creative writing action.

A third telling of The Israel Stories a synagogue in Ottawa was very successful. The stories are now available on this site for listening.
